'Chrysalis'

‘Chrysalis’, 16” x 20”, oil, gold and silver leaf on stained wood panel. 

My 1st oil painting, post stroke/traumatic brain event, was based on a lucid dream. It was a blissful little reprieve from the large commission I'm working on. 

This piece is part of a larger story I've been trying to tell, and I'm looking forward exploring the theme of spiritual transformation more in the future. 

Special thanks to my fabulous model, Sara. Unwavering gratitude to my amazing girlfriend Teresa for her constant support, enthusiasm and endless patience when I disappear into myself for days on end. It's fun (and slightly terrifying!) to be playing with oils again. More to come.

Full moon gazing led to this lucid dream, complete with poem. I still think spiders are creepy. 

I finished this one last week but am posting today in honor of our current blue full moon.

Impromptu getaway!

I hosted Lynchburg's Underground Movie Club last Wednesday (del Toro's The Shape of Water) and literally walked out of the theater and into a waiting car and drove straight to Cocoa Beach, Florida. My heart is full for the 1st time in years and I'm incredibly inspired by all of the beauty here. Time to get back to my easel!
