Fish, I

'Fish, I', (hypnagogia series #9). 8" x 10", oil on cradled gessoboard. 

Back in February I woke up in the middle of a dream (lucid dreaming) and was sitting in the lotus position on the bottom of a river (I've dreamed that I can breathe underwater since I was a child) when this cute little guy swam up to check me out: "Whatcha doing in my waters, fool?" 

"Nothing. Not fishing!"

Phoenicopterus

'Phoenicopterus' (Hypnagogia Series #1), 24"x12", oil and gold leaf on board. I just finished this a few nights ago, my 1st new work in nearly 4 years.

 Early last Spring, while in the hospital and close to death, I kept having lucid dreams of a pink flamingo. The visions persisted for months. Later, while researching flamingos, I discovered that they were the inspiration for the mythical Phoenix and as I began my long journey back to wellness (rising  from the ashes) I realized  what the visions finally meant.
